CoreSpinning with FeistyFenn Fibers, Diana North

Corespinning is a versatile spinning technique that allows the incorporation of unique textures into the creation of textural yarns. Beads, novelty yarns, sequins, ribbons, locks, and other inspirational items can be spun into a yarn with this technique. Corespinning is a gateway technique to creating thematic and completely unique yarns that reflect a spinner’s individual style. Once the different hand control required for corespinning is mastered, a spinner can progress to more advanced textural yarn spinning techniques. The only limit to how these yarns can be used is your imagination.
Prerequisites: Although textural yarn spinning is a freeform type of spinning, it does require proficiency in basic spinning techniques. Please be able to comfortably spin and ply a continuous yarn on your wheel before taking the class.
Supplies to Bring: Size 10 crochet thread, a bowl, scissors, and a spinning wheel.
Supplies Provided: Each class participant will be supplied with a 2.0 oz. batt and a plethora of add-ins (beads, novelty yarns, locks, sequins, etc.) for practice during class.
Class Cost: $40.00
Duration of Class: 2 hours
Class Time: 10:45am to 12:45pm

INTENTIONAL Blending spinning WITH Knitting Budha, Maxine rothman

For this class, it is necessary to be comfortable spinning a continuous single on your wheel. While it is quite possible to do this on a spindle, it is not something I have figured out.
We all have fiber in our stash that we likely purchased when we started spinning, that we look at today and contemplate “What was I thinking?” I am sure it was so pretty at the time, but in all likelihood, it was purchased at a time when you didn’t know what the options were otherwise.
In this class, we will explore how to take perfectly good, if less loved fiber, and transform it into something slightly different by adding select bits and spinning from the hand card. This is not a conventional carding class.
Supplies: You must bring:
  1. spinning wheel with at least one bobbin and any required accessories
  2. a "What was I thinking?" fiber from your stash (or odd bits and pieces you might want to combine into a project)
  3. an open mind concerning what is possible
  4. hand cards or a pair of pet grooming slickers
Instructor will supply various bits for blending.
Class Cost: $40.00
Duration of Class: 2 hours

Class Time: 1:15pm to 3:15pm
Class is limited to 10 students.
